Natural Resources Specialist – Junior

Department: Ecological
Location: Baton Rouge , LA

Our Baton Rouge Ecological Program is growing and has an open position for a Natural Resources Specialist. CK offers growing professionals the opportunity to work on complex and rewarding projects and regulatory permitting efforts. The primary responsibilities will include conducting wetland and waterbody delineations and assessments, habitat assessments and surveys, wildlife and plant species-specific surveys, preparing technical reports, developing figures, assisting in preparing correspondence and proposals, assisting in scoping and managing natural resource projects, and assisting in the preparation of permit applications.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Biology, Ecology, Wildlife, Fisheries, Natural Resources, Environmental Science, or related science field;
  • 0-3 years’ experience;
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel to project sites out of area (approximately 30% overnight travel);
  • Flexible to work outside normal work schedule as needed;
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written form;
  • Proficient in plant and wildlife identification, particularly in the Gulf South Region;
  • Ability to develop compliance solutions in a team environment, and communicate those solutions to the client, regulatory agencies, and project staff;
  • Experience with GIS software such as ArcGIS and GPS field mapping systems;
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Ability to work outdoors in various habitats, including but limited to wooded, swamp, marsh, etc. for long periods in variable weather conditions;
  • Must be able to satisfy all Drug & Alcohol, Health & Safety, and Security requirements including obtaining a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card; and
  • This position requires frequent use of a company vehicle. Candidate must be at least 21 years of age with a clean driving record, and able to safely operate a full-size pickup truck.
